Replace your phone menu route by route
Dograh is the self-hostable voice agent platform with an open-source workflow builder. Callers say what they need in their own words, and the agent looks it up or hands them to a person, while your IVR keeps answering every other route.
Start with one call type
Choose a common, low-risk call
Pilot routeone branch of your menu
Order status or rescheduling makes a good first slice.
→ Leave card payments on the keypad
Let callers explain in their own words
Tool callthe agent looks up the record
A language model reads what the caller means and checks your system during the call, instead of sending them to a queue.
→ Verify identity before anything personal
Keep a person one step away
Transfer Callyour old "press 0"
A transfer rule puts the caller through to your team. It works on Twilio numbers.
→ Build the handover before the rest
What the agent takes over, and what stays
Move the next one only when the first is solving problems
A keyed card number never enters the recording or transcript
Inside a step the model writes new words on every call
Check these before real callers reach the agent
- Transfer rule builtThe agent knows when to hand over, and the transfer runs on Twilio.
- Tested over a phone lineBrowser test calls run at 16 kHz and can't transfer, so they hide both.
- Required wording in fixed textDisclosures go in fixed text, such as the greeting or a recorded clip.
- Identity checked firstDate of birth or account digits before the agent says anything personal.
- QA sample plannedSomeone listens to a random 5-10% of live calls each week.
Built for teams that run their own phone lines
Runs on your servers
Self-host Dograh and call recordings and transcripts stay on infrastructure you control.
No per-minute platform fee
Self-hosted Dograh is free. Servers, phone lines and paid models still cost money.
Edit a step, not a tree
Change a prompt or a pathway in the visual builder. Nothing needs re-recording.
QA scores every step
Each step of a call gets its own score, so you see where a caller got lost.

Learn how voice AI works, step by step
Is there an open-source alternative to a traditional IVR?+×
Yes. Dograh is an open-source voice agent platform you can self-host, with a visual builder for the call flow and your choice of speech and language models.
Do I have to switch off my IVR first?+×
No. Keep the IVR as the front door and send one call type to the agent. Every other route keeps working as before.
Should card payments move to the agent?+×
Keep them on the keypad. A spoken card number ends up in the call recording and the transcript, while keyed digits do not.
Can callers still reach a person?+×
Yes. A transfer rule replaces "press 0". Transfer to a person works on Twilio numbers, so test it on a real phone call.
Is a conversational IVR the same thing?+×
No. Most add speech recognition on top of the old menu tree. An AI voice agent keeps the whole conversation in view and acts through tool calls.
Is self-hosting free?+×
There is no per-minute platform fee. You still pay for servers and phone lines, plus AI models unless you host open-weight ones yourself.
Move one route off the menu first.
